Slovakia Work Permit

Slovakia offers various types of work permits for foreigners. The most common is the Employment Residence Permit, requiring a job offer from a Slovak employer. The employer typically initiates the application process, providing necessary documentation like a work contract, proof of qualifications, health insurance, and accommodation. The application is submitted to the Foreign Police, and once approved, the permit is issued. It’s essential to comply with specific requirements, such as proving no suitable Slovak or EU candidate was available for the job. Additionally, there are permits for specialized roles, intra-company transfers, and freelancers, each with its own specific criteria and application process.

Generally, the process for obtaining a work permit in Slovakia involves the following steps

Job Offer: Secure a job offer from a Slovak employer. The employer usually needs to demonstrate that they couldn’t find a suitable local candidate for the position.

Work Permit Application: Once you have a job offer, your employer will initiate the work permit application process on your behalf.

The application is typically submitted to the local labour office in Slovakia.
Application Process:
i) Submission: Apply for a work permit at the nearest Slovak embassy or consulate in your home country.
ii) Documents: Prepare and submit the required documents along with the application form.
iii) Processing Time: It can take several weeks for the authorities to process your application.

Residence Permit:
Upon obtaining the work permit, you’ll need to apply for a residence permit to legally reside in Slovakia.
